It is 1855. You have decided to vote for a politician who is "personally opposed to slavery, but pro choice on the issue." Your choosing him is based on his stands on all the other issues which in your judgment outweighs his support of the system of slavery. Could you explain your vote with a clean heart to a black man in manacles?
That is not how Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. puts it in response to "Roman Catholics for Obama" who quote him in their initial appeal. Chaput,a student of Ronald Lawler and a Capuchin, shepherds the Roman Catholics in the archdiocese of Denver which includes most of Northern Colorado.
